Hey, I'm Matt, and I like typography and graphic design -and lots of other things. Art and drawing has always been a part of my life. I remember summer days of sitting in the upstairs window and drawing the landscape and neighboring home or drawing the people I loved. Doodling with a pencil has always come natural to me and was my first love.
A close second is my love of building things. A jig saw was one if my first tools my dad bought for me at a flea market in South Carolina. I spent countless hours trying to make all the creations I could come up with from picture frames to a trailer for the garden tractor.
I got my start in signs as an adolescent when my uncle taught me how to hand letter signs. I developed my layout and lettering skills through my teen years. In 2006 I went to work fulltime at a sign shop in northern Indiana learning the modern techniques of sign design and fabrication. This fueled my passion for visual communication.
